Andrew Ives

Andrew originally became interested in photography in around 2012 when he was studying Digital Media. He bought a canon 550d, and used it about 5 times in 6 months. He just didn’t have the inspiration or motivation and sold it.

He moved to Hong Kong in 2015, and fell in love. It’s just such a beautiful city in all aspects. He decided to try and pick up photography again in early 2017 and bought a Sony a7ii. He a night person so naturally he went out after dark and practiced. Pretty quickly he realised that Hong Kong could provide him with endless inspiration and motivation to go out and shoot.

Neon signs, rain, and gritty street scenes became his focus. He experimented with unnatural colours in editing. He attempted to create futuristic and surreal photos. He spent a lot of time practicing editing and learning new techniques. He believes He had found the aspect of photography that He enjoyed and stucks with it, gradually developing his style.

He loves to shoot down to the street from above, and tries to find small vantage points from a few floors up.

It has been an interesting journey so far, and he is looking forward to see where it will take him in the years to come.
