“He combined his two greatest passions - cinema and photography - and took inspiration from the design, mood and colors of movies”
Rudmer Hoekstra

Rudmer Hoekstra

Rudmer first started taking photos as a teenager. Photography became a serious and passionate pursuit after he moved to Hong Kong from his native Netherlands and purchased his first DSLR in 2009.

He combined his two greatest passions - cinema and photography - and took inspiration from the design, mood and colors of movies like Blade Runner, Dark City, Stalker and Ghost in the Shell. He prefers to capture Hong Kong's cityscape and gritty back alleys in the dark or at twilight and turns still imagery into photographic art in a style reminiscent of these past iconic movies.

He finds beauty in an urban landscape cloaked in darkness, punctuated by a contrasting warm and cold neon tones.
