“A camera is my world’s kaleidoscope.”
Iris’ earliest memory of photography traces back to her childhood when she was not tall enough to see what was beyond the balcony. Her dad would take photos of the street on his camera to show her- and that was when she realized- a camera is her world’s kaleidoscope.
Passionately curious, Iris sees the world as a big, complex puzzle where everything is waiting to be explored. Photography is her way to understand it, and a medium to share her observations with others. This mindset translates into street shoots with rich stories and varying moods. One consistent theme in Iris’ street shots is connection in big cities. She is particularly fascinated by the connection, or disconnection, of people with one another and their surroundings. The joy of a serendipitous encounter, loneliness in a big city, the tiring walk back home….Iris’ photos strive to provoke emotions, and imagination as to what the story could be, so we can all spot the interesting things in our seemingly ordinary existence.
Iris is a photographer based in Hong Kong. She shoots with a Sony A7rii and a Fujifilm x100v.
